Extension Searches

Extension searches allow you to refine your search results based on specific criteria. The available options are:

  • Minimum Word Count: Specifies the minimum number of words an entire match must contain.
  • Maximum Word Count From Base Term: Sets the maximum word count, including the base term, relative to the search direction. The base term is the match found before extensions are found.
  • Longest Consecutive Character Length: The upper bound limit from zero to the character length (inclusive) that counts towards the max consecutive character length match counter.
  • Max Consecutive Character Length Matches: Limits the number of matches that occurs consecutively when the condition from the above setting is met.

The options "Longest Consecutive Character Length" and "Max Consecutive Character Length Matches" directly affect one another. Internally, "Max Consecutive Character Length Matches" is a counter that is incremented when the "Longest Consecutive Character Length" condition is met. When a match is found that does not meet the condition, the counter is set back to zero because the match no longer consecutive.
